The milkmaid was painted by Vermer Van Delf in 1660. It shows a young woman, a servant in a large house.
The young woman is a cook and she is quite tall and I'd say fairly strong, probably as a result of having to carry heavy objects from an early age. She's wearing a white cap or scarf, which covers her hair, a yellow blouse, a blue apron and an orange long skirt.
This painting gives you a good idea what a woman wore in the seventeenth century.
The girl seems happy and she is very concentraited on what she is doing.
I find this an interesting painting because it isn't of someone rich of famous, but of an ordinary person going about her daily tasks.
In my opinion, the painting is very interesting!
